The Land of Dream and Love

This series of paintings addresses human significance, the outer reaches of outer space and, at the same time, the outer reaches of inner space, the distance to that far horizon both internal and external, that distant shore of bright lights and illumination, that can be glimpsed at times if one changes ones orientation. For example, if one lies on the ground and stares up at the clouds and stars and beyond into the empty immensity, or if one empties ones-self of the distractions of the world and of the sense of self and realises one’s own actual brief and infinitesimal presence, and insignificance, then there is the possibility of breaking out from the horizontal homocentric world and freeing from the spider’s web of modern interconnected city life.
